How to choose a coffee grinder without getting lost in the specifications.

Start with the cup you make most
Write down the coffee you actually make during a normal week. An espresso-first routine and a batch of filter coffee ask different things of a grinder. A longer feature list is only useful when those features solve a problem you have. A grinder designed for filter coffee may deliberately exclude espresso, as Fellow does with the Ode Gen 2.
Separate a specification from a result
Burr size and adjustment steps help describe a grinder. They do not, on their own, prove that you will prefer its coffee. Beans, recipe, water, maintenance and technique all matter. Use specifications to rule out unsuitable products; treat taste and consistency claims as questions that need appropriate testing.
Think through the daily workflow
Do you measure beans for each drink or keep them in a hopper? Where will the grounds go? Will the grinder fit underneath a cabinet with space to refill it? Check dimensions, the supplied container and the cleaning instructions. A convenient routine is one you are more likely to keep.
