Map your actual home
Think about rugs, carpet pile, thresholds, chair legs, pet hair and the height under furniture. A manufacturer's peak suction number does not measure pickup in your rooms. Check the robot's clearance and supported floor types before comparing extras.
Understand the mop
A detachable flat pad, rotating mops and a dock that washes mops are different maintenance commitments. A vacuum-and-mop label alone cannot tell you how much manual care remains. Check whether the mop lifts or detaches around carpet.
Budget for the dock
Self-emptying still means emptying or replacing a bag, cleaning water tanks and occasionally clearing brushes. Measure dock footprint and room to service it. Read the manufacturer's instructions for approved cleaning fluid and replacement parts.
Treat app features as dependencies
Mapping, no-go zones and schedules may require an app, an account and a compatible Wi-Fi network. Verify those requirements, software support and return conditions for the exact model you buy. These descriptions are based on manufacturer documentation, not our own cleaning tests.
