Match the speaker to the trip
Picture where you will carry it, set it down and charge it. A handle, loop and carabiner solve different problems. Check the dimensions against your actual bag and consider whether you need to operate the controls with one hand. A compact speaker is a useful option for portability; size alone does not establish how it will sound at the distance or volume you need.
Read protection ratings narrowly
An ingress rating describes specified test conditions, not unlimited protection in every setting. Follow the manufacturer's instructions about depth, duration, liquids, port covers and drying before charging. Check the warranty separately. Our cards retain the published rating and point to the source; we have not performed water or drop testing.
Do not mix up playback modes
Check whether a battery headline describes standard playback or a special saving mode. For example, JBL distinguishes the Flip 7's standard claim from its longer Playtime Boost claim. Plan a margin for your own volume and use. For a long outing, knowing where and how you can recharge may be more useful than a small difference in advertised hours.
Check pairing before buying two
Bluetooth playback from a phone does not guarantee that two speakers can form a stereo pair or join the same party group. Compatibility can depend on model, generation, software and connection mode. Look up the precise pairing instructions for the products you intend to use together. We do not rank sound quality from feature lists; an audition or a transparent independent listening test can help answer that separate question.
