Five questions to ask before trusting a product shortlist—including ours.

What was actually evaluated?
A specification comparison, a hands-on test and a summary of customer reviews are different forms of evidence. Look for a clear explanation. Our launch comparisons use manufacturer documentation and editorial interpretation; we have not physically tested these products.
Can you follow the source?
Look for links to the exact model and a research date. A similarly named product may have different features. A current manufacturer page is useful for specifications, but it is still the manufacturer's own account of the product.
Is the shortlist complete?
Usually it is not. Our selection is a small starting point, not a scan of every product or every merchant. Consider other options, especially when you have a specific compatibility requirement or a local retailer with better support.
How does the publisher make money?
Look for an explanation near recommendations, not just in a footer. At launch, our manufacturer links are ordinary links that earn us no commission. If we add paid affiliate links or sponsored placements, we will label them and explain how compensation relates to presentation.
What happens when the facts change?
Specifications, availability and merchant policies can change. Check the source before purchasing. If you spot a mistake here, send us the page address, the detail in question and a source through our contact form so we can investigate.
